After Hurricane Harvey hit, several parts of the Texas area were left without homes, clothing and daily necessities. The devastation lasted for days after the storm, and many areas are still in the process of rebuilding their neighborhoods. Dave Caskey, saw those in need and decided to partner with the city of Manhattan Beach and the local school district to donate provisions for those affected by the storm.
The city decided to “adopt” the town of Cleveland, Texas and help their residents in their time of need. Caskey organized a group of volunteers that collected over seven truckloads of clothing, first aid supplies, and more to donate. After gathering the supplies, Caskey and his group drove 1600 miles to deliver the supplies and distribute the goods to those in need.
Caskey utilized his resources and client contacts to gather supplies for hurricane victims which included 3,000 pairs of new shoes from Sketchers and boxes from the preferred moving company in Manhattan Beach. He also made personal contributions to the gas and transportation costs for the trip to ensure that the supplies were delivered in a timely and organized fashion. Caskey’s generosity touched many people and influenced his brokerage to contribute as well. Strand Hill Properties matched the total broker contribution to the hurricane relief efforts.
